What a Day!
My boys were handfuls today! They were sick over the weekend and their attitudes haven't changed yet... All day was whining and crying... :( The boys did go to their first tiny tumbers class at the ymca today. They did pretty good considering they have never done much when it comes to organized activities! They got to sing songs and play with the parachute and walk on the balance beam. It was fun. Then work from 3-8 and now home about to put two little boys to bed!
night.

Virgin Blogger Here
I'm new to this, so I'm being random now since I'm not sure what direction I'll be taking this blog...
Here over the next few days I think I'm gonna post some recipes and activities that I've acquired over the past 5 years as a day camp counselor. I know that when I took over the Preschool Science class at the YMCA last fall that I had a horrible time rounding up reliable recipes to do with my class. I did find a few gold mines here or there that were FULL of relevant activities and experiments... Maybe I can be the next gold mine! Ha Ha!
My first Tip to anyone wanting to find some cool stuff is this website.

This site is full of awesome science kits and experiments for all ages. I'm a big fan so I want to pass it along. Something I really want off this site (that I don't know for sure even work but look AWESOME) are the carpet skates.

These sound like SO much fun! I actually sent the link for these to my grandma (that's how cool I am) to hint at her to buy them for all the grandkids... LOL
Next best thing on the site: BOO BUBBLES! Can't even describe it, just go to the site and search it!
A DVD Tragedy
My Boys LOVE their DVDs
Recently at our house we had a DVD emergency! My son Logan came up to me wanting to watch his FAVORITE movie. He hands me the movie and I look at it and notice it was snapped clean apart in one spot. Now I don't know how many of you have kids addicted to their movies but this was catastrophic. After 2 days of "I wanna watch mighty mega monster trucks!", we made it to Target to get a new one. THANKFULLY! they still had it. It was even on sale by a whole quarter! haha. Instead of the 5 bucks we payed for it last time, we payed 4.75.
Of course, now we've had the new one 2 days and he hasn't said a word about it and it's still in dad's truck... woops!

wow, I even just discovered you can buy the WHOLE collection for 25 bucks. Some of these movies are really cheesy and annoying but I have actually learned things off these movies that I didn't know. Ha Ha I guess you discover new things every day!

The Game Cupboard Incident...
Tip of the day: Toddler proof the house.
My boys are PROFESSIONALS at getting into things. I sometimes just gaze open-mouthed at them and wonder "how did they even think to do that?"
When the boys were born we "baby proofed" but then when the boys were 1 1/2 we moved and we DID NOT toddler proof. I am pretty sure I now regret that! Let me show you some pictures of absolute destruction...

This is the den after they found Apples to Apples in the game cabinet...
now this is the packing peanut incident but is closely related to the other... Jeff received a package in the mail and left it sitting in our living room.... I'm sure you can guess the rest. The scene I walked in on looked like a scene out of a movie where the person gets a lot of cash and dumps it on the bed and throws in up in the air. Same scene, different object.
This situation repeats itself in our house WAY TOO FREQUENTLY! If its not cards, or peanuts, it baking soda. With that one I was baking and left the room for a few minutes and came back to what looked like a blizzard in Hot Wheel land. The whole box was dumped on their Hot Wheel city. You would think I'd learn.... :)
The Cake Incident
Every time I start to think my boys can't top their latest adventure, they prove me wrong...
As some may know, the finale of the HBO show True Blood aired yesterday evening. On Friday, I started the grueling process of making a cake to take to our True Blood "party". (The process is still grueling to me since I'm a beginner, and I simultaneously take care of twin boys).
On Friday I got most of my steps out of the way. I baked my cakes, made fondant, colored that fondant, and made my decorations for the top of the cake. Logan was keeping me company in the kitchen while I worked with the fondant to make the letters spelling True Blood. Since Logan is 2, his favorite phrase in the kitchen is "I want a bite". So, as I made my letters I was feeding Logan the scraps of fondant. (for some reason he loves it, me, not a fan). Bedtime approaches and I finish up my letters. All Done! I'm so excited cuz tomorrow I can make my filling, put my cake together, and cover it with fondant.
Saturday comes, I finish my cake. I was so excited to get it done because I made "blood" our of pureed cherry pie filling and red food coloring. (by the way, not only did my blood look awesome, it was delicious!)
Here is the finished result:

I was done with my cake and happy with the results! That afternoon I went to a movie with my friends leaving Logan, Aiden, and Dad home. The movie was great and I came home a few hours later in a good mood. This is what I found.....
Apparently feeding Logan fondant scraps was a big mistake. The 3 of them took a nap and the boys woke up before Jeff. So, they pulled their timeout chair up to the counter and went to town. They picked every letter off and ate it! After wanting to cry for about 20 minutes I did come to realize how lucky I was that they so skillfully JUST picked off the letters and left the rest of the cake intact....
So basically the lesson to be learned in my house is:
Don't leave ANYTHING within reach or even "assisted reach" of the boys. At least not if you cherish it!
